Extracts from Log Book:
13 Feb 1874:
"Opened the school for the first time - as a public school under the late Act - on Monday 9th"
20th Feb 1874:
"The work of the school has now assumed shape....the pupils having come from several schools"
9 Oct 1874:
"...on account of a misunderstanding between the Old Deer and New Deer School Boards, together with the limited accommodation in the school, children below 8 years of age belonging to the Parish of New Deer have been refused admittance"
7 Apr 1877:
"....For some weeks during the progress of the enlargement of the school, the pupils will have to assemble at Bulwark School"
16 Mar 1896: H.M. Inspector's Report:
" This school is very unsatisfactory as regards the building...as very extensive alterations would be required to make the premises even approximately satisfactory and as Bulwark and Honeynook schools which are in the immediate neighbourhood are also in need of reconstruction, it would be better to erect on a suitable site a new central school"
11 June 1894:
"Miss jessie Ann carle....primary teacher was a pupil teacher in the Blacklay public school, New Deer"
7 May 1895: H.M.Inspector's Report:
".....the school buildings will cease to be used when a projected new school at Maud is complete"
6 April 1896: H.M.Inspector's Report:
"...the present school building is to be closed next month and the pupils transferred to the large new school in the village"
24 April 1896:
"This school is now closed"
