| Administrative History | Hilton Primary School opened on 17 August 1931 drawing children mostly from Kittybrewster and Woodside Schools. The Primary School and Hilton Junior Secondary School were administered as one unit from 1932 until 1949, when the Primary School was constituted an independent unit under its own headmaster. Separate series of log books and admission registers were maintained however for the Primary and Junior Secondary departments of the school during the period of joint administration (see Hilton Academy for the records of Hilton Junior Secondary School). To allow expansion of the Junior Secondary School, the Primary School was closed at Christmas 1950, with the exception of the Infant Department, which remained open for existing pupils only until July 1951. Pupils were transferred mostly to Woodside and Kittybrewster Schools, though some were moved to Middlefield, Stockethill and Smithfield Schools. |
