Administrative History | Marchburn Infant School was built in 1952 and accomodated nursery, primary 1 and primary 2 children. It was designed by Allan Ross & Allan, architects, as a nursery/infant school for younger pupils from the Northfield housing estate. Approval for construction was given by Aberdeen Town Council Education Committee in September 1950 at an estimated cost of £73,157 (Town Council minutes, 1949/50, p. 523, 531 - 533). The school provided accommodation for 4 infant classes and 8 primary classes, and opened in August 1952. It was badly damaged by an arson attack in January 1993. In 2009 the school was merged with Middlefield Primary School, and moved to new premises on Davidson Drive under the name Heathryburn School. The building was demolished in 2010. |
