Administrative History | St Peter's Roman Catholic School was originally located on Constitution Street and incorporated an orphanage (see DD5 for a register of girls at the orphanage covering 1856 - 1877). The Constitution Street school was built in 1833 and later became the Shiprow Tavern. In August 1902 St Joseph's R.C. Girls' School amalgamated with St. Peter's R.C. Boys School, and became know as St. Peter's Mixed School. The school moved to Nelson Street in 1937 until relocating to Dunbar Street around 1982. The secondary department of the school closed in July 1975. The Nelson Street site was demolished in 1984. |
