Administrative History | Old Deer Civil Parish and Ardallie School Board, Aberdeenshire School History as reported to Director June 1935: "Ardallie Public School opened 11th June 1877, was the enlargement of the existing female school previous to that date and consisted of 2 rooms. On 8th October 1900, 6ft. was added to the Infant room and 2 porches were built." 10th February 1905:- "The larger room was divided into two rooms by the erection of a glass partition." May 1915:- "Gravitation water was put into both porches." (from back of Log Book Sept 1931 - 30 Mar 1972" (GR6S/B3/1/2) The school's final pupils left in 2012, and the school was closed in 2014 (the catchment area was then covered by Arnage and Hatton schools).

Extracts from Log Books: 30 November 1906: "A stand has now been made for the bookcase which has been set up and the books presented by Mr.Coats of Ferguslie arranged therein ready for use". 5 July 1907: "Yesterday the scholars got a holiday on the occasion of the coming of age of Cosmo Gordon Jnr. of Ellon. Mr. Gordon of Ellon is the Lord of the manor." 16 August 1907: "Yesterday the scholars got a holiday on the occasion of the coming of age of James Ferguson jnr. of Kinmundy. the late William Ferguson of Kinmundy was the Chairman of Ardallie School Board from its inception in 1873 to the date of his death 11 Sept 1904." 9 August 1911: "Robert S. wallace, formerly a pupil of this school has been appointed Professor of English language and literature in the university of Melborne." 18 aug 1911: "Sheriff Ferguson and Mrs. Ferguson called at the school with the framed portrait of the King which the latter has been presented to the school." 7 August 1914: "There has now commenced a great European War. On the one side Great Britain, France, Russia, Belgium and Servia; on the other Germany and Austria. The war was commenced by Germany."
