Extracts from Log Books:
1 September 1939: "School closed on 31 Aug owing to evacuation of children from Glasgow to this area".
8 September 1939: "School remained closed all this week. War declared on 3 Sept and evacuation of children continued"
8 May 1945: "V. Day. Rev. Mr. McQuoid conduted a children's service in school 10.30 -11.30. As 89% of children (many of whom had no wireless and had had no opportunity of hearing news) arrived at school, at the normal hour, it was considered wise to keep them till mid-day meal - attendance being counted towards 1 1/2 "lost" days during storm. Some of the children had walked 3 1/2 miles to school and could not immediately be sent on the homeward journey without a rest".
27 August 1951: "BBC Unit with recording car visited school today for the broadcast to be made on wed 29th August in the series "Breaks for Broadcasting""
24 April 1959: "Head teacher visited Crudie School - official opening: School dismissed 2pm for this purpose".
27 april 1959: "Work began today on school extensions - Provision of servery and indoor lavatories and cloakrooms"
21 August 1962: "Today I commenced duty as head teacher (and sole teacher) at Ardmiddle School. Eleven children were transferred to Turriff Academy, 2 new pupils were admitted and the roll stands at 19"
3 July 1980: "A meeting was held in school this evening attended by members of Turriff School Board and parents of pupils at Ardmiddle and of children under school age. After discussion the parents reluctantly agreed that the school be closed...Pupils would be going either to Turriff Primary School or Easterfield School".
