1904 Summary of Inspector's Report......The rooms are scrupulously kept and the abundance of pot plants gives them something of a conservatory air...
1915 Inspector's report:...Instruction in school gardening has commenced according to an approved plan and scheme of work. The equipment is not complete but gravel for the walks and sufficient tools will be upplied in due course. The headmaster is an enthuisiastic and successful gardener; and under his expert knowledge of the elements of the subject. Garden work is carefully correlated with other school subjects, such as Nature Study, English Composition and Arithmetic.
Aberdeen University Review Vol XXVI (1938 - 1939) AUP 1939 "Mr Peter Stuart (MA - 1888) who was for 33 years headmaster at Cairnie School, died at his home in Forres on 1 October 1938. He was the son of Mr John stuart, forester on the Seafield Estate. Being an expert gardener and having knowledge of practical botany and kindred subjects, he was one of the pioneers in the teaching of these subjects in rural schools long before they were included in the general curriculum. |
