Description | Session of the Justices of the Peace, 12 December 1709, regarding the complaint of Robert Milne against George Smith, messenger. That Smith had illegally apprehended him without due process. Smith acknowledges his error, 'that at the tyme which he apprehended or at least threatened the said Robert Milne with captione he hade not letters of captione against him…'. Smith further declares 'that at the tyme he was efter drink and neither then exactly knew nor at the tyme does fully remember what he then did…' The Justices ordain that Smith pay a 10 shilling fine. |
