Isobel Calder had gone to the shop of John Fraser, gunsmith in Spitil, in order to collect a gun belonging to her husband. Upon being asked for it, John Fraser, without any provocation given, beat her 'with ane hammer on the head and shoulders to my great hurt'. Isobel called for her husband to enter the shop to help, and Fraser attacked him with a polishing file 'and threatened to shut me with my own gun, being charged with a poysened ball' [see OA/1/6/3/362, 364-5, 393] |
