Description | This Journal, dating from 8 September 1916 to 3 March 1949, contains daily notes covering areas such as repairs, meetings, goods, letters received, notes of admissions, discharges, burials, concerts, invitations for inmates, visits, pig movements, payments and all general daily incidents at the Poor House.
The home seems to have included a mortuary, which was used as the local mortuary (see Peterhead Sentinel and General Advertiser for Buchan District - Saturday 19 December 1903). From 1932 a running tally of all bodies received by the mortuary was kept in the Journal. Post mortems were also carried out there. |
