| Description | Includes all officers in force in 1885 or appointed between 1885 and April 1890. Some annotations were made to records to July 1891.
The records are organised in rank order, then by date of appointment.
For each officer, the register gives the name, physical description, age, place of origin, occupation, date of appointment, promotions and date and brief details of termination. Although the register provides space for information on awards and discipline, such information is rarely recorded.
The register is indexed by the surname of the officer.
