Description | Includes all officers in force in 1890 or appointed between 1890 and 31 December 1898. Annotations to records were made routinely to 1914, and occasionally thereafter up to 1957. The records are organised in rank order then, latterly, by date of appointment. Promoted officers may therefore be recorded more than once in the register. For each officer, the register gives the name, physical description, date and parish of birth, occupation, date of appointment, transfers, promotions, awards, discipline, sickness and date and details of termination. For officers in force circa 1920, it also gives the name, occupation and address of spouse and children. The register is indexed by the surname of the officer.
