| Description | For each officer gives name, date of appointment, date and place of birth, height, previous employment, transfers, promotions, misconduct record and general remarks. The register pertains to officers in force or appointed after February 1871, but does not include James Pirie, Chief Constable. Details of the fifteen officers appointed between 1853 and 1869 who were still in force in 1871 were gathered by James Pirie from pay sheets, letter books, diary books and other records, and entered into the register.
