Administrative HistoryThe club was founded in 1870 to revive the custom of the gentlemen of the county dining together after meetings such as those of the Commissioners of Supply. The first dinner took place at Lynch's Hotel at Michaelmas 1869 and was so well-attended that it was resolved to put them on a more formal footing. The dinners were to be annual, and membership cost a guinea a year.
