Administrative HistoryThe estate papers detail the management of the Hazlehead Estate from 1812 to 1851, during the ownership of William Forbes Robertson and his successors. William Forbes Robertson (1791-1841) was born William Forbes, a son of William Forbes of Echt and Springhill. Before succeeding to the estate of Hazlehead, William Forbes (the Younger) had a financial interest in the Bon Accord Whale Fishing Company; his involvement is detailed in some of the account books in this collection.
William Forbes (the Younger) succeeded Dr Alexander Robertson to the Hazlehead Estate in 1816, and took the additional name of Robertson. In 1824, William Forbes Robertson married Helen Hadden, a daughter of James Hadden, former Provost of Aberdeen. (The family of William Forbes Robertson is detailed in "The House of Forbes", ed. A & H Tayler, 1937, pages 424-426). William Forbes Robertson died in 1840, and many of the estate papers are connected with the settlement and management of the estate by his trustees, and the sale of the estate in 1851.
