Administrative HistorySir Alexander Bannerman (1823-1877) was the eldest son of Sir Charles Bannerman (1782-1851). They were the eighth and ninth Baronet Bannerman of Elsick. Sir Alexander Bannerman bought back part of the Elsick estate that had been sold by the fourth Baronet after his father's alleged involvement in the Jacobie rising of 1745. The family also held the lands of Kirkhill, Dyce, via Sir Charles Bannerman ' grandmother Margaret Burnett.
Sir Alexander Bannerman married 1. Lady Arabella Sackville-West in 1860 and 2. Lady Katherine Ashburnham in 1874. He had one daughter, Ethel Mary Elizabeth Bannerman.
