Includes all officers appointed from 12 April 1858 to 1 April 1920, although the register was started at a date after 1868 and information on officers appointed before the mid-1880s is sparse. For each officer, gives name, age on appointment, native parish, physical description, occupation, date of appointment, where stationed, rank, and date and cause of leaving. Details of transfers, promotions and leave of absence are given occasionally. The volume includes an integral index by surname of officer.
