The Rural Cottage Competition was run by the Department for Health for Scotland in March 1938, for 5 categories of buildings (this set includes all but the third category). The competition was part of a wider effort to the raise aesthetic and hygienic standard of rural housing, in connection with the Housing (Agricultural Population) Scotland Act. Prize money of £75 was awarded to the winner of each category. </dc:description>
