Aberdeen Harbour Board: Letter from Reverend Alexander Thom, Nigg Letter to Mr. Riddel written at Manse of Nigg: "Dear Sir, I have taken the liberty to write to you in favour of Alexander Allan, who has been a Labourer for many years in the town's work about the harbour. He has an unwell wife and blind sister-in-law depending on him, and if any employment can be given to him, however little he gets for it, it would be doing a humane and charitable action and would luch oblige dear Sir, yours very truly, Alexander Thom." 15th January 1839
