In doing so I beg to bring under your notice that I was appointed as a Meter to fill occasional vacancies in 1836 and has been employed regularly for the last twelve months, and from the experience, I have already acquired. Humble conceive myself qualified and able to undertake the duty, and consider that having given as far as I can learn ample satisfaction hitherto, you will in your wisdom be so condescending as to select me as one of the Meters on the present occasion.
