  <dc:description>Council meeting, 22 September 1812
Sederunt: The whole members of Council
The Provost reported the magistrates' recommendations concerning the present state of office and salary of the Gaoler and Keeper of the Tolbooth, Mr Alexander Brown. The Council approved the increase in salary from £40 to £105 per annum as well as an additional annual payment of £20 for discharging the duties of the office of Billet Master of the City. (234r - 234v)

The Provost represented that the Town's Auditors believed insufficient time had been alloted for auditing the office bearers' accounts and requested that, in light of the recent changes in the keeping of these accounts, the Council recommend to their successors in office the propriety of taking more efficient steps for the audit and, in addition, of framing regulations for the ordering of stationery and other articles for the Town House. The Council approved of the representation and recommended the same to the early notice of the new Council. (234v)

The Council admitted three Craftsmen. (234v)</dc:description>
