Aberdeen Council Register: volume 70 - extract dated 24 September 1816 Council meeting, 24 September 1816 [Sederunt given] The Council approved the sale of the following leases. First, a three-year lease of the Upper Justice Mill was taken by Widow Christie, for £90 yearly rent. Second, a three-year lease of the house at Footdee occupied by Alexander Hall, was taken by him, for £25 yearly rent. As the house was in disrepair, the Council directed the Treasurer to grant Alexander Hall £15 to put the house into a tenantable condition. Third, a three-year lease of a piece of ground occupied as a boat building yard by Alexander Mackie, was taken by him for £10 yearly rent. Fourth, a three-year lease of a piece of ground on the east side of the Pocra, occupied as a timber yard and block shop by Messrs Catto & Company, was taken by them, for £16 yearly rent. Fifth, a three-year lease of a lime shed near the Canal Bason, occupied by the Farmer Lime Company, was taken by Andrew Robertson, advocate, for £20 yearly rent. Sixth, a one-year lease of the Pack House and Weigh House Dues was taken by David Milne, merchant, for £229 rent. Seventh, three-year leases of eight lots of the reserved ground at Torrie was taken by Gregory Cummins and others, as per tack book, for a total of £78 17 shillings yearly rents. The Council also approved the sale by private bargain of the first and second lots of the Lands of Easter Skene to Mr Thomas McCombie, merchant in Aberdeen, for £12,000. The Council directed the Dean of Guild to lend the sum paid by Mr McCombie to the Treasurer. (75r - 76r) The Council granted the petitions submitted by Alexander Mitchell and James Chesser, both residing in Aberdeen, requesting admittance as lime metters at the Shore, in place of the deceased John Wilson and the late William Ingram respectively. The Council also granted the petition submitted by Alexander Hendry, late mariner, now assistant coal metter in Aberdeen, requesting admittance as a coal metter, in place of the deceased John Leslie. All petitions were granted on condition that the petitioners provided caution to the satisfaction of the magistrates. (76r - 76v) The Council admitted two Burgesses of Guild.
