Frasers of Castle Fraser Papers Papers of the Lords Fraser 1632 to 1686. The majority of the papers are discharges (items DD1460/A/1-63 and three additional items at DD1460/A/71-73). There are also three lists of damage done to the Fraser family's lands by the Marquis of Huntly's forces during the 1650s (DD1460/A/64-66) and a memorandum of damage by a Captain Clare in the same time period (DD1460/A/75); a royal guarantee for the release of Lord Fraser in 1651 (DD1460/A/67); DD1460/A/68; a receipt for the payment of a fine for failing to keep the peace by the 3rd Lord Fraser in 1653 (DD1460/A/69); a rental for Durris (DD1460/A/70); and a receipt for shoe repairs (DD1460/A/74). The papers were found with the discharges (DD1460/A/1-63) arranged into sets by date, labelled with the numbers 1-63, with the final set (64 -75) made up of other documents. This order has been retained, although its origin is unclear. The spelling in the original documents has been retained in the descriptions in this catalogue. 1632 - 1686
