<dc:title>Papers of Sapper Robert Stephen: XVIII Corps Card</dc:title>
<dc:description>The XVIII Corps was a British infantry formation formed in France in January 1917 which operated until July 1918.
The front of the card has a coloured illustrated XVII Corps title, with "From Robert Stephen" and the Corps' formation sign added in pen underneath.
The card contains a colour map illustrating the Corps' actions in the Flanders region in 1917: it shows an area to the north west of Ypres, to Westroosebeke. Inset are illustrations of three sites of significant battles for the Corps: St Julien on the 31st July, Wurst Farm on the 20th September and Poelcappelle on the 4th October. On the reverse is a list of the Corps' successes between 31st July and 1st November 1917: the capture of the Steenbeck River by the 51st Division has been annotated in pen "HD" to indicate that this was the Highland Division.
