John Reid Dean was born in 1859, Chapel of Garioch. He is on the 1871 census aged 11 at Balquham Farm -  mother Margaret Dean and father John Dean. On the 1901 census, he is aged 41, married to Amy S Dean and living at 34 Rubislaw Den South, The Pables, St Machar, Rubislaw, Aberdeen. Occupation given as 'SSC' - Solicitor in Supreme Courts. He has one daughter and a son. Died 13 August 1942.</dc:description>
