The Council elected Provost James Young Esq as Commissioner and Baillie Robert Garden as his Assessor to the Convention of Royal Burghs in Edinburgh on 14 July 1812. (230r)

The Provost reported that the lease of the Pack House and Weigh House Dues had expired on 1 June 1812, having been let for one year to John Saunders, merchant, but from an oversight had not been advertised in due time. Which being considered the Council agreed to let the Dues for another year to the said John Saunders at the present rent of £171. (230r)

The Council approved of the Treasurer borrowing monies for the public purposes of the community on 20 June 1812. Bills and bonds for the relevant sums had been issued to the following persons, with interest of five percent:
