Letter reads: "Sir, we received in due course your favour covering the specification for the intended Turn Bridge for Aberdeen Harbour and have much to regret that tracing of the drawing (which we should cheerfully have paid for) did not accompany it as we could then have given an estimate for the same, as it is, though the specification is very explicit, we dare not venture on it, not having had sufficient time to make ourselves acquainted wi the various particulars to enable us to come to a correct conclusion- we beg however to state that we think we could furnish and supply ready for fixing the (?)- [gives a list of prices of materials]...Should the Trustees be disposed to extend the time and you could furnish us wi tracings of the drawing, we shall have pleasure in going into an estimate in which case we should also require from some responsible person. The price of the timber and workmanship of it probably you can recommend such a one- we are for, your obliged humble servants, The Horseley Coal (?) Mr. Johnson." |
