DescriptionIn two parts.
1. A letter to James Riddel from Henry Stephens. Letter head: "Redbrae Cottage, Edinburgh, 14th August 1837." Letter reads as follows: "Sir, I would feel obliged if you would favour me with the amount of cattle, sheep, lamb, and horses exported from Aberdeen to London or any other port in England by steam vessel or any other conveyance by sea from 31st May 1836 to 31st May 1837; and also the (?) of deed (?) sent in the same way. The subject of the request is to illustrate a peeper? on the advantages of steam navigation to the (?) of Scotland which is to appear in the evening number of the Leicester Journal of Agriculture and prize essays of the (?) and Agricultural Society of Scotland. I am dear Sir, your most obedient servant, Henry Stephens, Editor."
2. An note with an account of cattle shipped from Aberdeen 31st May 1836 to 31st May 1837; 7433 cattle, 50 horses, 2162 pigs, 872 live sheep and 215 dead and 73 lambs. Beef in packages- 1483."
