Letter reads as follows: "Gentlemen, understanding that a vacancy has occurred in the shore due office by the death of Mr. David Walker, I beg to offer myself as a candidate for the situation he lately held or any situation vacant in the office. I beg to say that I was similarly employed at Perth for nine months as Bulker and Sub-Collector. I enclose certificates from my superiors while in Perth and I can also refer as to my conduct while in my present office of Superintendent of the House of Refuge here the Treasurer and any of the Directors.
