DescriptionSigned by witnesses James Cruickshank vintner in Fraserburgh, Joseph Rainnie his servant, John Duthie advocate in Aberdeen, John Paterson his clerk, Agnes Legget, James Legget, and William Fyfe. William Fyfe, sailor, was executor. James and Agnes Leggat were two of William's and Catherine Downie's children - James of Hatton, Banchory, and Agnes formerly of Aberdeen, now in Fraserburgh. Catherine Downie resided at the time in Hilton. William Fyfe was the son-in-law of William and Catherine through marriage to their daughter Jean Leggat, with whom he had four children: William, John, Catharine, and Jean Fyfe.
The document notes William Fyfe's receipt of monetary bills and bonds from Aberdeen shoremasters present and past (Alexander Mackie Esquire and James Brebner), the values of which were to be shared equally among William Legget's children.
