Description | Extract act of Council, 27th July 1757, stating that Provost Mowat had received a private conveyance of the effects of John Elphinston in Virginia some weeks prior to his bankruptcy at a considerable injury to the Town of Aberdeen and the other creditors of John Elphinston. Council agrees that the bills should not be attested nor have the City Seal affixed, and all legal and proper means should be used to attach the estate of John Elphinston to the town's credit. |
