Administrative HistoryRosemount School opened 21 February 1887 and all pupils and staff from Skene Street School were removed to the new building. The school closed in June 1901 for enlargement and reconstruction of the buildings. Pupils and staff were transferred to the newly-opened Mile End School while the work was being carried out. Classes re-convened in the Rosemount School buildings on 5 May 1903, incorporating pupils from Northfield School, Leadside Road, which had closed on 1 May 1903. The buildings were used as a military hospital from August 1914 to April 1920, during which time the pupils were taught first at the Grammar School and then at Mile End School. The Infant Department closed on 29 June 1923 and the school became an Intermediate School drawing pupils from Mile End, Skene Square, Skene Street and Westfield Schools. The school was re-named twice: from 1939 to 1954 it was known as Rosemount Junior Secondary School; thereafter the school was called Rosemount Secondary School. The school closed at the end of the 1971/2 session, and the buildings were used as an annexe by Aberdeen Grammar School.
