Title | Aberdeen City Police: Chief Constable's annual reports |
Description | Annual reports of Aberdeen City Police Chief Constable. The reports comprise written accounts, statistical tables and graphs. Those for 1968 and 1969 also include photographs. The reports cover two main areas: the organisation of the police service and a summary of incidents and offences. Details of the organisation include an overview of the police establishment, training, recruitment, transport, activities of specialist sections and police buildings. The 1945 annual report also gives a summary of expenditure and revenue. The activities of the Police Club, including the Pipe Band, are included in the annual reports for 1962 to 1974. The section on incidents and offences routinely covers crimes reported, disposal of cases, juvenile offenders, road traffic incidents and drink-related offences. Liquor licensing statistics and related offences are also given in the reports for 1945, 1957 to 1958 and 1965 to 1974, and hackney carriage licences are covered in the reports for 1961 to 1974. The 1970 annual report also provides statistics on misuse of drugs offences. The reports refer to significant events during the year, notably royal visits, but also parades and major public events. From 1963 to 1974 the reports give the name, age, address and reason for all those presented with an award for gallantry. |
