TitleAberdeen Harbour Board: Letter from Robert Morrice, Aberdeen
Description"Sir, I am desired by the President and Governors of Robert Gordon's Hospital to inform you that agreeable to your letter of 29 August last, they agree to accept of interest from 20 December next at the rate of four per cent on the money belonging to the Hospital in the hands of the Harbour Trustees or Master of Shorework. I am also desired by them to intimate to you that they accede to the request expressed in a letter of 31st August last received by them from Mr. Hardie, City Chamberlain, wi resepct to depositing at the above term the sum of eight thousand four hundred pounds then to be paid up to them by the Treasurer of Aberdeen and to be at the same rate of interest. As also to state to you that the President and Governors will have at the same term, or even immediately, four thousand pounds more which they are desirous of lodging for a time so as to produce to them the same rate of interest, and that they are desirous that the Harbour Trustees should take this money also to lie at the same rate, and at their command, as it shall be wanted for the purpose of carrying forward the erection of an addition to the Hospital- for which purpose too, let it be understood, some of their monies above mentioned may be required, tho' most probably for a year or two. Of course the President and Governors will expect to participate in the benefit of any general rise in the rate of interest that may take place while their money remains wi the Harbour Trustees.
