Letter reads as follows: "Sir, we hereby offer to write in lease from you for three years from Whitsunday last, that house at Footdee presently occupied by Mrs. Craich (now Fairburn) for which we agree to pay you a rent of twenty eight pounds, ten shillings by half yearly proportions at Martinmas & Whitsunday; it being understood that we have power to (?) the same at pleasure.
