Description | Letter addressed to the Harbour Trustees: "Gentlemen, I find the berth you have assigned to the Rothesay to be an extremely inconvenient one, in so far as it is at a (?) distance from my office, and as she is intended to be sailed direct from the harbourfor the purpose of (?) the risk of taking passengers to the bay in boats, the little depth of water at that part of the quay would often be the cause of detaining her many hours beyond the time she would be if lying in almost any other part of the harbour. I therefore respectuflly beg you will have the kindness to appoint another situation for her, or at least to allow her the usual privileges, that is to take any unoccupied berth when that can be done without incoveniencing? others. I beg particularly to mention that once a week when she is here the Queen of Scotland's berth is vacant and being quite unfit for sailing vessels lying in. I think you must see there can be no good reason why she should be prevented from occupying it at that time. Trusting that you will take these matters into your consideration. I am Gentlemen, with great respect, your most obedient servant, Alexander Cay."
