TitleAberdeen Harbour Board: Letter from Aberdeen Gas Light Company regarding extinguishing of shore lamps
DescriptionLetter head: "Gas Light Company Office, Aberdeen, 6th March 1839." Letter reads as follows: "Dear Sir, how came it to pass that the whole of the harbour lamps were found burning this morning at a quarter to seven o'clock? This is fully an hour and a quarter after the time appointed for their being shut, and even at that hour they were extinguished by labourers in your your employment, but unconnected with either the lighting or extinguishing of the harbour lamps. I will feel obliged by your making enquiry regarding this matter, and giving such instructions to your Lamp Lighter, as shall prevent a similar cause of complaint in future. I remain dear Sir, yours very truly, Alexander Ritchie."
