Description | Note to John Gibb. Letter head: "Footdee Iron Works, 30th October 1837." Letter reads as follows: "Dear Sir, the funnel of the Paul Jones having been carried away yesterday morning early, it has been brought up to our works, but before doing anything to it we request your instructions as arbiter. The paddle box having also been injured will have to be repaired. As these injuries have arisen from causes which do not fall under the stipulations of our contract, we think it necessary to bring them under your notice. Requesting your earliest attention to the subject, we remain dear Sir, John Duffus & Co." |
