DescriptionLetter to the Harbour Trustees: "Gentlemen, we the undersigned individuals who are at present employed and at many different periods of the year taking ballast from the dredging machine that we cannot make wages adequate to support our wives and families we crew cannot reach common labourers' wages considering the very dirty work we have to perform. All our request is if the Harbour Trustees will have the goodness to allow us 27 tons for each Leighter loaded from the dredging machine and what ever we have above 27 tons to be paid as formerly- and we will ever remain your most obedient and dutiful servants and we expect an answer by the 1st of February."
