Description | "Gentlemen, having on the 16th current received peremptory ontructions to cause the quays be cleared, of stones, empty boxes, casks and other things, which had been allowed to remain thereon, I have to report that the whole has been removed without exception of the following, viz, five full and one empty cask belonging to Mr. James Ray junior, these are very heavy casks and in such bad order, as will hardly bear to be handled, a quantity of large stones belonging to Mr. Gibb, a quantity of pavement stones belonging to Mr. McDonald stone cutter, and some empty boxes, casks, crates and other small articles, of scarcely any value belonging to various individuals, all of which I shall endeavour to have removed without delay, but in the event of my not succeeding in this I request to be informed, whether I shall at once send these things to the Public Weigh House at the expense of the inspective parties, having no other place of safety, to which they can be sent. I am Gentlemen, your most obedient servant, James Mearns." |
