Description | Letter to James Riddel from Alexander Jopp: "Dear Sir, the manager of the Raik fishery has complained that the mud dredged from the harbour has been deposited upon the river bank within flood mark. Had the stuff laid down been clear (?) it might probably have been harmless, but being mud of the most filthy description and of a consistency easily washed away very considerable injury arises to the fishing from the impurity thus conveyed to the river. I trust the Harbour Trustees will not hesitate to give immediate instructions that no more of the stuff be laid down within flood mark and that they will order what has already been deposited to be removed. I am Sir, yours faithfully, Alexander Jopp." |
