TitleAberdeen Harbour Board: Aberdeen Harbour Bill - a defence of the Magistrates and City council as trustees of the Harbour and the proposed 21 year extension of the Aberdeen Harbour Bill
DescriptionDocument outlining the opposition to the trustees' oversight of harbour improvements and the Aberdeen Harbour Bill that seeks to extend those powers already granted for proposed improvements for a further twenty-one years. It notes that the harbour improvements to this point have progressed well and that the proposed Bill would merely provide an extension of time to complete the harbour works rather than giving any material change to the current situation. The Document goes on to critique the opponents' arguments, which it notes consist of three main areas. Though notes that the overall opposition to the Bill is driven by a desire to replace the current crop of trustees. The first two objections relate to technicalities with the Bill itself, and the third questions the necessity of this Bill, as the previous Bill (1810) allotted a period that still has three years to run.
