Empowered to: - appoint Sanitary Inspectors and Medical Officers of Health, and to commission Inquiries. - investigate nuisances, sell manure, lay down and clean sewers, inspect the sale of food. - carry out measures to prevent and mitigate disease under Order in Council; establish hospitals; establish means to carry out disinfection; provide public toilets; move those with infectious disorders to a hospital; establish mortuaries; make regulations for lodging hosues; oversea the sick on ships ; defray the costs of vaccinations in certain cases; and provide grounds for public recreation. - raise assessments to carry out same. |
