Currently teaching in Junior Department and has received highest salary of that grade in 1906. Has taught Juniors at Broomhill since 1895. Was previously at Ruthrieston. Been a teacher for 21 years altogether.
Agnes Cameron. 45 Victoria Street. 22nd January 1908. Paid a visit to the school for ‘cripple and defective children’ in Edinburgh. Argues her visit to his school has strengthened her desire to do similar work.

Graduated with Second-Class Honours in Classics at Edinburgh University. Now in second year of Divinity studies there. Fully qualified tutor.

Job application for Sixth Standard work at the school. Has taught Junior classes for 11.5 years at Broomhill. Has kept on top of Senior work through class and private study. Consistent First Class student at Training College and has First Class certificate from the Society of Arts in English and French.
A.Green. Skene Square Public School. 28th January 1908. Letter on behalf of Miss Kenny Williams to secure her place for Acting Teachers’ Certificate Examination. Williams has obtained the Oxford Senior Legal Certificate. However, Green argues that she may not be competent enough to conduct a class on her own.

Helen Milne. 108 Clifton Road. 25th February 1908. Request for salary increase Has taught at King Edward Primary School for eight years, and then Selkirk Burgh School for six years, teaching Standard 1-3. Since October 1906, she has taught a large Infant Class in Causewayend earning £60.
J.M. Morrison. 42 Carlton Place. 21st January 1908. Cover letter with enclosed statement regarding complaint made about him by Rector. Enclosed letter dated 24th February 1908. Admits to his behaviour regarding unauthorised methods of punishment and disrespect towards the Rector. Defends himself by saying that some of his reactions were due to the strong allegations of the Rector.

Also argues that there have been too many lectures given by outside groups as to present disruption to pupils.
Alex Young. 108 Armadale Street, Denniston, Glasgow. 10th February 1908. Job application for Assistant Manual Instructor. He has the following qualifications: Second Class Certificate in Carpentry and Joinery, and a pass in Manual Training First Year (Woodwork). Hass 3 First Class Certificates in Building Construction and Drawing, and 2 Second Class Certificates in Carpentry and Joinery of the Glasgow Technical College. More details given in letter.
Four-page letter titled “Manual Instruction Classes- Additional Staffing and Supervision.” No sender, address or date given, although mentions are made about the Aberdeen Grammar School, the Central Higher Grade School and Westfield School Centre from the content. Includes details about the cost of materials, working hours of the staff, organisation of the classes, and much more. Includes a 9-point list on the final page labelled “Supported Duties of the Supervisor of Manual Instructions.”
Ellen Greenwell. Beech Lodge School. February 1908. A Mr Thomson asked about how many maids Ellen kept and the running of her household- implying this brought a further burden on the school.
Forbes. Holburn Street Public School. 5th February 1908. Praise for Miss Christina Forbs in charge of Standard II, and Miss Esther Stephen as sub-assistant.
Janet Gray. St John’s School [place unclear]. 25th February 1908. Job application. Has been in Infants’ Department at St John’s for 4.5 years. Wishes to live closer to her mother after her father’s death. Was the only female teacher on committee connected to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to children. Gave free dinners to very poor children on two winters as well.
John Gordon. High School. March 11th 1908. Request for increase in salary- has taught at the High School for 25 years, and has had to take on extra responsibilities in teaching Drawing as the Board wishes to include it in schools
Hylop. Central Higher Grade School. 13th January 1908. Request for leave of absence to attend classes on Housewifery in order to educate pupils, as she believes it will be of importance to the education of girls in the future.
Hynd. King Street Public School. 16th January 1908. Notes on Bible Knowledge being taught at the school- psalms and hymns especially.
Mr Johnson. Central Evening Public School. 9th March 1908. Letter of gratitude in being able to study the Commercial Scheme at the Aberdeen Chamber of Commerce.
D.B. Lothian. Sunnybank Public School. 4th February [exact year unknown somewhere between 1907-1908]. Praise towards two temporary teachers- Miss Helen Robertson and Miss Jessie Mearns. Says he is unable to dispense of their services.
D.B. Lothian. Sunnybank Public School. 17th February 1908. Notes regarding multiple absent teachers and Miss Phillips covering for them.
John McBain. High School. 3rd March 1908. Discussion on issue regarding the size of seats and desks in the room adjoining the Infant’s Class-Room, as they are too small for the children who study in there (8.5 years old).
John McKenzie. Ashley Road Public School. Request for new desks for Supplementary classes on top floor of school. Inspectors has also commented on the matter.
Beatrice Mennie. Skene Street Public School. 6th March 1908. Request for increase in salary- has served under the Board for 25 years (as an Infant Mistress for the last 12.5 years). Skene Street has extra difficulties, and she has taken on extra duty at Northfield School. She has good reports from inspectors and finally, she wishes to match the salary of her professional peers.
John Peter. Hanover Street Public School. 10th February 1908. Concern regarding Mr Sutherland. Believes he has lacked early training which has made his handwriting and organisation skills chaotic, as well as being unable to control his class. However, he believes that within a year or two, he will become ‘a fairly good teacher’.
Frances M.B.S Robertson. 343 Union Street. 4th February 1908. Has heard news that on 31st July the Board’s contract with the Aberdeen Physical Training College will cease and puts her name forward as a possible candidate for a job due to her previous work with most of the large Aberdeen schools.
Rose. Causewayend Public School. 4th February 1908. Praises Mss Burnett for her work with the school, and in unable to dispense of her services owing to Mis Laing’s illness.
Urquhart. Broomhill Public School. 10th March 1907. Request for increase in salary- has worked for the Board for 14 years, and teaches all classes from Infants upwards, including Supplementary classes. Has certificates in Cutting-out. Plain Needlework, and Dressmaking. Wishes to be relieved on evening classes owing to health provided she receives a raise.
