• Letter of JD Anderson to Mr Hector concerning a talk on the war given by Rev. Mr.Taverner to senior pupils at Ferryhill Public School 13th December 1916.
• Letter of W Chalmers Bowie informing the Board that he has been classed as fit for Sedentary Service at home camps by the military and thus been conscripted into the army, 3rd October 1916.
• Letter of W. Chalmers Bowie requesting to the board that they apply for any exemption from military duty to which he will be eligible, 4th October 1916.
• Letter of Maggie Burnett tendering her resignation as a teacher in light of her impending marriage, 16th November 1916.
• Letter of T. Christie, reporting insubordination and rudeness of George McBain, pupil at Skene Street public school, 17th October 1916. Letter is cross-written with updates in red ink reading “boy to return to school on Monday and behave himself.”
• Letter of Jane Clark, noting perfect attendance of a pupil at York Street public school for seven years, 27th September 1916.
• Letter of Duncan Clarke noting eight years of perfect attendance of a pupil at Victoria Road School, 30th November 1916.
• Letter of Laura Dean, Secretary of Middle Public School, intimating that about ten teachers wish to get tuition in swimming on Saturdays, 27th September 1916.
• Letter of WB Duguid concerning purchase of worsted to knit comforts for soldiers as part of a charity drive at Kittybrewster Public School, 14th November 1916.
• Letter of complaint of the Headmasters of the Aberdeen Evening Schools, concerning the undue haste of appointment to the headmastership of the Central Evening School, 5th October 1916.
• Letter of George Fenton defending his conduct in the matter of disciplining the child of Mrs. Addison, 25th September 1916.
• Letter of George Fenton to Thomas Hector concerning the alterations to school hours during the winter months, 25th October 1916.
• Letter of George Fenton concerning the provision of inferior quality cloth for the making of blouses at school, 10th October 1916.
• Letter of H. Fyfe organising concert at Woodside Public School to benefit the fund for the comfort of soldiers, 17th November 1916.
• Letter of the Head Teachers Association concerning alteration of the school hours with relation to lighting restrictions during war-time, 24th October 1916.
• Letter of the 2/2 Company North Scottish Royal Garrison Artillery requesting a special grant be made to two teachers employed by the Board in order that they may accept commissions to the Army but are unable to do so for financial reasons, 14th October 1916.
• Letter of WA Keys informing the board that he is to be sent to a sanatorium in the country for at least six months before returning to work, 14th October 1916.
• Letter of RM Littlejohn to Thomas Hector detailing the circumstances of reduced attendance of Annie R. Clyne, 6th December 1916.
• Letter of Alexander Moodie naming six pupils qualifying for perfect attendance awards, 29th November 1916.
• Letter of M.M. MacDonald reporting on the health and condition of Jeanie Gaiters, an inhabitant of Oldmill Poorhouse attending Rubislaw Special School, 26th September 1916.
• Letter of Mary MacDonald reporting on repairs to school property at Rubislaw Special School, 19th October 1916.
• Letter of Mary Macdonald to Thomas Hector regarding pupils of Rubislaw Special School having to walk from Torry to Market Street in order to catch a school tram, 3rd November 1916.
• Letter of James C Macleod to Mr Finlayson concerning a request by a woman of the staff at Mile-End Public School to prove that her son John A. Grant’s true age is 42, and not the lower age that he had entered falsely on his military registration form, requesting that the admissions register for 1880 be consulted. 10th January 1917.
• Letter of James C Macleod to Mr Finlayson concerning price negotiations for acquisition of a quantity of glass beakers and flasks, 10th December 1916.
• Letter of Duncan Mackenzie to Thomas Hector, concerning a window that was smashed in George Street School by members of the Demonstration School, and now has loose sharp fragments hanging over the infants’ playground, 23rd October 1916.
• Letter of William McLean to Thomas Hector concerning the running of the school during the hours of darkness as only two rooms at Skene Square School have been blinded so as to comply with war time lighting regulations, 2th October 1916.
• Letter of Lance Corporal J Mutch of the 52nd Junior Reserve Battalion, Silverburn Detachment, at Leven, requesting a grant of a portion of his salary should he accept an officer’s commission, 7th November 1916.
• Letter of William Ross enquiring as to whether Mr Geary, Violin Teacher, is a male of military age within Broomhill School as he is not employed by the Board and teaches after school hours, 29th September 1916.
• Letter of William Ross lodging complaint with the Board that Ashley Road School has been freely admitting pupils from the Broomhill District, 29th August 1916.
• Letter of Will Robertson to Thomas Hector concerning a rumour of the Board’s possible action in excluding the outskirts of the Causewayend School District from Causewayend in order to avoid the necessity of using Church Halls to accommodate pupils, 8th September 1916.
• Letter of James Rose to Thomas Hector concerning staff shortages and winter hours changes to operations, and their impact on the collection of the Comforts For Soldiers charity money at King Street School, 17th November 1916.
• Letter of James Rose to Thomas Hector concerning the Jack Cornwell Memorial, 28th September 1916.

• Letter of HJ Morland Simpson stating that he will not be able to supply the “elaborate statistics of past years” required by the Edinburgh Clerk, 7th November 1916.
• Letter of Thomas Smith to Thomas Hector informing him that George Dickie, a pupil at Woodside Evening School, has fallen and sprained his foot while doing gymnastics, 14th November 1916.
• Letter of R. Valentine listing children admitted to Ashley Road School who reside outwith the school district, 31st August 1916.
• Letter of R. Valentine naming Wilfred S Findlater as a pupil residing outwith the Ashley School district who has been admitted to the school, 8th December 1916.
• Letter of R. Valentine listing infants residing outwith Ashley Road School district to be admitted to the school, 6th December 1916.
