Allan Cameron. Ferryhill Evening School. 7 December 1892
Advise 8 pupils willing to fulfil conditions required for Dressmaking grant. Further states 20 pupils may remain for full course.

Refers to list (not attached) of marks for candidates in recent examinations for – Pupil Teachership? -. 43 pupils have reached qualifying standard, 20 0 25 are distinctly good.

Jane A. Strachan deserves mention for excellence of papers throughout and John Cra??na has made great advancement from his former appearance.

The Education of the Blind
Two typed letters, dated as above, the first only giving Huntly as an address, the second as indicated above. Both relate to his request to the board to give demonstrations to schools in his abilities as a teacher of the blind. Accompanying these letters is a printed leaflet, titled as above, explaining John Gribben`s misfortune to become totally blind as a child, after another pupil struck him in the eye with a stone. This document continues to give details of the numerous subjects he can teach.

Applies for post as Second-Mastership at said school citing experience and qualifications.

Lissie Kerr. 6 Esslemont Avenue. 9 February 1893.
Seeks transfer to a school away from the `east end` for health reasons. Attached within are 2 letters from doctors giving details of her health.

W. B. King. 35 Claremont Place. 4 February 1893.
Seeks transfer to school nearer their home and cites health as a reason.

James Moir. The Ash, Hamilton Place. 7 December 1892.
Series of 3 documents which would appear to relate to his removal of post at Aberdeen Grammar School. As part of series is a letter dated 14 December 1892, countersigned by 35 pupils asking that the board reconsider its position in the regard. Final document may be described as a parchment quality document of roughly A3 size in which the 8 countersignatures explain their disappointment and position on the matter. This last document is not dated.

Short letter to the board suggesting the transfer of the Junior Dept. of the school to Westfield School along with the back wing of the school being used for a Physics Laboratory and workshop.

Asks the board to consider the provision of 40 additional desks to to what is described as an excessive attendance of pupils in Standard 5 Girls.

Advises in compliance with form 9B the breakdown of pupils as: -

20 over 15 years
13 over 16 years.

John McKenzie. Skene Street School. 8 February 1893.
Short letter giving breakdown of pupils as of last inspection.
14 aged 14 years
3 aged 15 years.

John Mc Bain?. Girls High School. 31 January 1893.
Suggests to the board that because of ongoing work at the school there may be an opportunity to instal 10 to 15 electric bells along with a suitable series of speaking tubes.

John A. Phillips. Northfield School. 8 February 1893.
Gives breakdown of pupils as per Form 9B as follows: -
3 at aged 14years last birthday
1 at aged 15 years last birthday.

John Roy. 33 Belvidere Street. 14 December 1892.
Applies to the school board for consideration of a pension given his long service and failing health. Advises he has been a certified teacher since 1858 and has uninterrupted service since 1850.

Wishes to be considered for any posts under the board citing his experience and qualifications. Contains various references (not attached.) Alexander Fowlie headmaster of Market Place School Inverurie mentioned.

Asks to be considered for post as Second Master, citing his service and experience.

J.B. Spalding. 168 Crown Street. (No Date)
Short letter discussing benefit of appointing good ex-pupil teachers as well as certified teachers. Also speaks in unfavourable terms about a possible applicant for the Middle School. Author describes individual of being a `common under-breed girl`.

Seeks position to be closer to her home in Maryculter. Cites her experience.

J.S. Skea ?. St Pauls Street School. 10 and 11 January 1893.
Series of 3 letters concerning a Miss Will, Miss Hunter and a Miss Smith as being suitable candidates for forthcoming vacancies.

Highlights to the board three pupil teachers who will be finishing their apprenticeships in June.
Margaret Robertson, currently a paid monitor, Mary R. Rawer and Mary Innes the later 2 obtaining 82% and 67% respectively in recent exams.

Discusses pupil Robert Buchan and the board`s request that he be readmitted to the school. Author highlights the troublesome nature of the pupil and his high rate of truancy.

Seeks post as Second Master and gives details of his experience.

Chrissie Souter. 38 High Street Lossiemouth. 10 February 1893.
Seeks a transfer to a position within the Aberdeen School Board area. Outlines her personal circumstances advising both her and her mother will be moving to Aberdeen. Her father, a ship’s captain, was lost at sea along with his ship in 1892. Letter contains a reference from A Fleming headmaster at Lossiemouth Public school.

Short note advising 16 pupils had deposited a total of 2/6d to the Savings Bank.

Letter to the board seeking a decision regarding a teacher Miss Duncan to either increase her salary or have her transferred. Letter outlines circumstances as to why this course of action has come about. Also attached is a letter from the said Miss Duncan explaining her position.

Refers to a previous letter to the board and asks that the board secure Old Greyfriars School. Comments that having the temporary premises at Causewayend School would not have a marked effect on attendance.
