- 22 letters from various schools, January 1896: replies to the Board’s circulars of 30th December 1895 and 7th January 1896 regarding the educative value of teaching History as a class subject in schools, the teaching of History through Geography lessons and whether the teaching of Science is more beneficial than the teaching of History [See pp. 509 – 511 Board Meeting 20th February 1896 item (8)]
- 23 letters from various schools, January 1896: requesting tickets to Professor Reid’s lectures and listing the names of the teachers who wish to attend [Professor Robert William Reid M.D., LL.D, F.R.C.S. (b.1851 – d.1937) succeeded to Regius Chair of Anatomy at Aberdeen University in 1889; made significant contributions to the development of Anatomy and Anthropology in the university and locally; established an anthropometrical laboratory in the Anatomy Department in 1896, which formed the foundations of the Department’s significant work on the growth of children; in 1907 he formed the University of Aberdeen’s Anthropological Museum for which he remained its Honorary Curator until his death in 1937. Anderson, 5 Calsayseat Road, Aberdeen, 30th January 1896: has been offered a situation with Messrs Sharp Stewart & Co, Locomotive Builders, and is offering to find a suitable substitute teacher for his classes in Machine Construction and Drawing; Mr Sproul is recommended as substitute teacher and his qualifications and experience are stated [See p. 525 Board Meeting, 20th February 1896, item (1) and Board Meeting, 15th Oct 1896, item (634) on p. 735 where Mr Sproul is asking for an inquiry as to his not being appointed. The board decline any further communication with Mr Sproul on this subject].
- James E Anderson, 5 Calsayseat Road, Aberdeen, 25th January 1896: asks when the grant earned by the Machine Const. & Drawing class last session is due
- John C Anderson, Ferryhill Evening School, 14th January 1896: asks that Mr Valentine be re-appointed as Assistant Teacher for Higher Arithmetic and advises that the experiment of dividing the class on one night a week has been successful
- J D Anderson, 21st January 1896: asks for the return of his scheme for the teaching of science subjects which has been approved by Dr Stewart
- James Allan, Rosemount Public School, 13December 1895: advises that he has 45 Ex standard pupils in school
- Jas C Barnett, Middle Public School, 23rd January 1896: asks if Dr Duncan of Trinity Church, Shiprow, may borrow a Lantern to illustrate a lecture by Mrs Fyvie Mayo
- J Beaumont, Commerce Street Public School, 4th December 1895: requests another cookery teacher following the reorganisation of the New Year’s work
- Jas C Barnett, 2 Argyll Place, Aberdeen, 29th December 1895: advises that he has been asked by Rev.d Mr Brown, Torry, to give a Lantern show to schoolchildren at Torry and asks to borrow a Lantern as well as other material; note added in red ink overleaf by Mr Crichton

- John Cruickshank, Marywell Street Public School, 20th February 1896: encloses copies of the Bible examination paper to be sat the following day and asks if any of the Board members will be present to see the lower Standards examined [enclosures missing]
- C S Copland, Westfield Public School, 20th February 1896: encloses copies of the questions for the Bible Examination for Standards V & VI and states which sections of the Bible each Standard has studied [enclosures missing]
- James Campbell, Frederick Street Public School, 14th February 1896: regarding the vacancy for a Second Master, he advises that he would be very pleased to see Mr Shand, presently Senior Assistant at Skene Square School, appointed [see p.506 Board Meeting, 20th February 1896, item (b), & p.513 item 441.]
- John F Cruickshank, Marywell Street Public School, 3rd February 1896: recommends Edith A Malcolm and Barbara Anderson as Pupil Teacher candidates; outlines the staffing requirements and issues at the school
- John F Cruickshank, Marywell Street School, 20th January 1896: regarding staffing issues, he asks if the Board will ‘reserve’ Miss Edith Malcolm for him or perhaps Miss Annie Simpson; due to staff illness he suggests Miss Williamson should start at an early date [See above entry 3rd February 1896]

- C S Copland, Westfield Public School, 14th December 1896: requests that Miss Mitchell be retained as an Assistant in charge of Standard II otherwise it falls to Miss Anne Henderson, Pupil Teacher in her 4th year, but the hours would exceed those proscribed by Schedule II Code 1895 and he is concerned about the possible strain on her physical and mental health

- G F Duthie, Woodside Public School, 18th December 1895: regarding an order of slates for use in the classrooms; postscript that Miss Watt will choose suitable Dumb Bells
- Erkmann, 1 Albyn Place, 26th December 1895: asks if the board will allow the “Aberdeen Wagner Society” to use a room in the Girls’ High School for their monthly meetings; advises that a considerable number of the members are teachers and lists some of their names

- Wm Johnston, 25Bon Accord Street, Aberdeen, 9th December 1895: advises that due to ill-health, he will not be able to undertake his work in the Evening School and does not anticipate being fit enough to return until after the Christmas holidays and asks for a substitute to be sent to Ferryhill
