Memorandum enclosing a copy of a letter to Mr Thain, father of pupil James Thain who had been punished for copying and inattention in class. His father and a friend had turned up at the school, Mr Thain carrying a horsewhip and looking for the class teacher Mr Cameron. The head teacher had to forcibly remove Mr Thain from the school.
