James Allan, Rosemount Public School: Suggestion to make Thursday meeting later and Friday half day for attendance of pupils at Barnum & Bailey’s Circus Parade detrimental to average attendance. 8/9/1899 C S Copland, Westfield Public School: Headmaster does not think Thursday procession will effect school but Friday half-day holiday is acceptable 11/9/1899 A Cruickshank, Marywell St Public School: Whatever steps taken will result in considerable drop in attendance. 7/9/1899 G F Duthie, Kittybrewster Public School: Due to immediate vicinity of circus to school headmaster is not willing to take responsibility for the children on the Thursday but need to be informed of arrangements for the Friday. 7/9/1899 James Findlay, St Clement Street Public: Suggestion that by the time procession passes Castle Street it will be impossible to get the children to school for a morning attendance. Proposal for half-holiday on Thursday and double attendance on Friday. 13/9/1899 Alexander Forbes, Skene St Public: Agrees with arrangements for Thursday & Friday acceptable but thinks route should be reviewed on the Wednesday so pupils will know where to locate themselves. 7/9/1899 J McGregor, Aberdeen Public School: If procession started at 9-9.30 and children where to witness it from the top of Bedford Road nothing would prevent them from reaching school by 10.30. But would it not be possible to make it a little later for pupils of outlying schools.
