Description | "Extract Act of Council appointing a Committee of their number, with certain others, Burgesses, to consider a proposition made by Alexander Rutherfurd, heritable proprietor of the Tron, purchased from the Laird of Balbegno, by his Grandfather, setting forth that as the Exportation of Wool to France and Flanders had much decreased, and thereby the dues of the Tron leviable therefrom lessened, as as the Tron was decayed, he was willing at his own expenses, to reconstruct the same to procure brass weights, and to build a new Weigh House, as in Dunee and Edinburgh, provided the Community would revise the Table of Dues, and increase the number of heavy Articles which ought to be weighed. Said Act is dated 8th October 1585." (Text from Shaw's Inventory of the Charters and Papers relating to the City of Aberdeen, of 1851) |
